The IRCCS Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri (IRFMN), based in Milan, with two research centres located in Bergamo, Italy, is a private foundation for scientific research and tuition. Within the Institute over 600 researchers are involved in experimental and clinical research, which spans from immunology, vascular biology, cancer, central nervous system, nephrology and biomedical engineering. IRFMN in Bergamo is focused on experimental and clinical nephrology, and works in close connection with the Department of Medicine of the A.O. Papa Giovanni XXIII, which is at the cutting edge of clinical nephrology. IRFMN is actively involved in translational research on ADPKD aimed at unravelling the disease mechanism, has coordinated and is coordinating a number of clinical trials aimed at assessing safety and efficacy of novel treatments on renal function and kidney and liver volumes in ADPKD patients, and is involved in the identification and characterisation of novel imaging biomarkers of disease progression in ADPKD.
Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Remuzzi is the responsible of IRFMN in Bergamo and director of the Department of Medicine of the A.O. Papa Giovanni XXIII.
