Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Eckardt

The department of Nephrology and Hypertension is part of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.  Lead by Prof. Kai-Uwe Eckardt it is one of the largest nephrology centers in Germany, combining dedicated patient care and renal research. The EuroCYST study site is located in Nürnberg, Kreuzburger Straße 2.

The Team has been organizing and enjoying clinical and observational trials with ADPKD patients since 1997 under the guidance of Prof. Bernd Schulze. Since it has been one of the early centers interested in ADPKD research, patients have been traveling long distances to take part in various studies throughout the years and have developed a close, family-like relationship to the team.

Currently the core team is set up with two experienced study nurses, Claudia Donhauser and Ingrid Weissbrod and epidemiologist Dr. Stephanie Titze.  They are supported by two senior nephrologists, Dr. Michael Leidig and Dr. Birgit Beyer and study nurse Ulrike Alberth-Schmidt.

Welcome to our center!
